Falmouth, Cornwall Safe Harbour Counselling for Social Change

You want to support your people. We’re here to help you do it.

Every organisation wants its people to feel well, supported and able to do their best work. But when workloads build, or life gets difficult, pressure can become overwhelming. Too often, people wait until they’re struggling and near breakpoint before they reach out. By then, stress can become burnout, affecting their wellbeing, their work and the wider organisation.

It can be difficult to know when someone needs help, or even what support to offer.

Safe Harbour was created to help organisations act earlier.

We provide confidential counselling and wellbeing support that gives employees a safe, accessible place to turn to when they need it. And we make it easier for you to put meaningful support in place without needing to provide it all yourself.

As our Outreach Coordinator puts it, “People can carry a lot before anyone realises they’re struggling. Our role is to make sure there is somewhere safe to turn before things reach crisis point.”

Because supporting your people shouldn’t start when they’re already at breaking point. It starts with making help available when they need it.

Our story

Safe Harbour began with a simple belief: everyone deserves somewhere safe to turn when life becomes difficult.

In 2012 Counselling for Social Change was created to make affordable, compassionate counselling and trauma-informed emotional support more accessible. Through that work, we saw something again and again: people don't always need to be in crisis to benefit from support.

We also saw how difficult it can be for organisations to provide meaningful wellbeing support for their people, particularly when resources are limited and mental health needs are varied and personal.

That’s why we created Safe Harbour.

We bring our experience in person-centred, integrative and pluralistic counselling into the workplace, giving organisations a practical way to offer confidential support to their employees.

We believe emotional wellbeing is part of being human. People’s experiences, backgrounds and circumstances are different, so support should never be one-size-fits-all.

Our role is to be the safe harbour: a trusted place employees can turn to when they need support, and a partner organisations can rely on to help their people stay well.

Because when organisations make it easier for people to ask for help, they create healthier, more resilient workplaces.

Our approach

From reactive support to a healthier, more proactive approach to wellbeing.
When people are under pressure, it’s easy for organisations to focus on getting through the immediate crisis. But meaningful wellbeing support is about more than responding when someone reaches breaking point. It’s about creating a culture where people can access the right support early, feel safe asking for help, and have the space to stay well over time.

That’s where Safe Harbour comes in.

Early support
We make confidential counselling available when people need it. helping employees address stress, emotional challenges and difficult circumstances before they escalate into burnout or crisis.

Support that fits your people
There is no one-size-fits-all approach to wellbeing. Our experienced counsellors provide person-centred, trauma-informed support that recognises each employee’s individual circumstances and needs.

Stronger teams and healthier workplaces
We help organisations build wellbeing into the way they support their people. Alongside counselling, our supervision and organisational support give teams and those responsible for supporting them the space to reflect, manage pressure and develop sustainable ways of working.

The result: your people have somewhere safe to turn, your organisation can respond earlier, and wellbeing becomes part of a healthier, more sustainable workplace.

Our expertise

Safe Harbour is delivered by an experienced team of counsellors and mental health practitioners who understand that workplace wellbeing is about people, not simply productivity.

Our experience spans a wide range of emotional and personal difficulties, and we bring a thoughtful, inclusive and non-judgemental approach to every person who accesses support.

For employers, this means confidence that your people are being supported by experienced practitioners who take confidentiality, professional boundaries, ethical practice and the therapeutic relationship seriously.

Experienced support. Confidential care.

Behind Safe Harbour is a team with substantial experience in counselling, supervision and community mental health.

We understand that accessing counselling can feel like a significant step, particularly when it is offered through the workplace. That's why confidentiality, professional boundaries and respect for each individual's circumstances are central to how we work.

Employees can access support knowing that the content of their counselling remains private, while employers can have confidence that their people are receiving professional, compassionate and appropriately supported care.
